Finished crockpot apple crisp ready to serve

This crockpot apple crisp is a cozy fall dessert made right in your slow cooker. Warm spiced apples and a golden oat topping make this the perfect hands-off treat for chilly days.

Ingredients

Scale

6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)

2 teaspoons lemon juice (to prevent browning)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (adds depth of flavor)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for warm spice)

1/4 cup brown sugar (adds sweetness to the apple base)

1/2 cup old-fashioned oats (provides a crisp topping texture)

1/3 cup all-purpose flour (binds the topping)

1/3 cup brown sugar (sweetens the topping)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (enhances oat topping)

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for depth)

Pinch of salt (balances sweetness)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed (for crispy texture)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup brown sugar.

2. Grease the crockpot insert with nonstick spray and pour in the apple mixture evenly.

3. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

4. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5. Sprinkle oat topping evenly over the apples. Do not stir.

6. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2.5 hours or LOW for 3.5 to 4 hours.

7. For a crispier topping, prop the lid open slightly for the last 30–45 minutes to release steam.

8. Scoop and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Best apples: Use tart-sweet varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for balance.

Avoid quick oats as they break down too much; stick with old-fashioned oats for a crisp texture.

To store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

To reheat: Bake at 350°F for 10–15 minutes or microwave in short intervals.
